I don't believe to the "midas preamps" marketing. I honestly never liked behringer, and despite in recent years the el cheapo stuff sounds decent, I'd not rely on that stuff. So I'd not choose a rack version if given the choice. I'd honestly prefer to have faders to mix on, if you need to mix on an ipad for aesthethic reasons do it, but IMO it's nice to have a "real" mixer when you can do it. The QU16 will surely fit many applications (even if it's less customisable than the GLD). It's not a Digico, but it's also half the price that the "entry level" from digico. I used the GLD-80 quite extensively though.and it sounds fantastic and almost on par with the big boys out there. In all honesty I never used a qu16 yet in a real world performance. To me, if you want this, then get a different board, but for the gigs I would use this board for, it lacks nothing.

It has all the features you really need and only lacks a little bit of customisation. My thoughts are that A&H has been very clever about what features they have removed and what features they have left. I took it out for the first time myself last week for a jazz gig and I was blown away with how quickly I set it up and started mixing. My staff have all taken the console out and reported back very positive experiences. Although I am told that the remote head amp function is due next month. At present, the multitrack recording and the remote head amp functionality are nonfunctional. The interface is very simple, but quite effective. I can say that it sounds great, way better than the price of admission. The QU16 is really great, although it is a little frustrating that some of it's features are not implemented as yet. It feels like I am operating a Nokia phone from 1998. Although I find the Behringer X32 quite usable and sounding quite good, I hate the interface. I want a mixer that you can plug in, rely on and just simply use. Let me start by saying that I personally hate any digital mixer that requires a laptop to be connected to make the interface useable. Yes I did purchase one and have another two on the way. I have borrowed tiny 2 channel mixers for this in the past but these are no longer available. The X32 would still be overkill but would not be too out of place.

Whatever I buy will mainly become a stage box so I'm not sure if if there is any point in having hardware faders etc?Īlso, sometimes I do gigs with just piano and 1 vocalist in quite posh hotels and the QU16 would look quite clumsy for this. The X32 Rack and QU-16 are very different to use but I'm on a tight budget. Using an iPad looks to be the most discrete way of doing this so I guess a QU16 would be a glorified stage box and maybe overkill!? I don't own a stage snake and don't want to go down that route. I would like to have someone mixing out front for our gigs which means I won't have to as often. I am mainly a musician that mixes sound on stage but also do sound on occasions for small festivals and gigs. How did you feel the audio quality of the X32 compared to the QU-16? You might ask member Aisle6, I know he bought one.ĬheuThanks for the reply.

hehĪ&H have really something with the new GLD and QU series IMO. If you need more than 16 channels, I've heard that more QU series mixer will come in 24 and 32 channels. It's ahead of all the small analog mixers as well in that price range. I'd definitely get the QU-16, very easy and straight forward, great sounding and you could record multitrack directly through USB. the FX are the same and are really really good (not only at this price range). If the preamps are the same as the GLD-80 ones (actually you could use the ar2412 as well with the QU16, so you'll have the same preamps) I'd say get the A&H. it felt very solid and the layout felt very good. I just played around with a QU-16 at the messe.
